Top Tips for Travelling with Children

Consider the time of day you choose to fly. Travel, airports and airplanes make for excited children. Be realistic with expectations of children falling asleep on a morning flight. Take advantage of your childs normal sleep patterns. It’s best to fly during your little ones daytime nap or during there normal night sleep time (red-eye flights are the go)
Book children their own seat. You will be grateful for theirs & your much needed comfort. You may think that Reserve a seat for your toddler and bring her car seat.
Protect your children’s ears with earplugs & help eliminate pain and discomfort of pressurisation especially during take off and landing. Your child will not be able to sleep if they are in pain or have blocked ears. Ensure they drink or eat (a good time for snacks) upon ascending & descending as this sucking/chewing action helps the ears to pop & depressurise. If your child is old enough you can give them chewing gum & or guide them to hold there nostrils & very gently blow out through their nose to also help their ears to pop.
Make your child comfortable – make sure they have a pillow & blanket & or favourite snuggle /comfort toy.
Pack a spare change of clothes including something warmer (even in summer months) Planes can get quite cool. Better to be prepared with a pair of socks, long comfortable pants/track pants & a jumper or sweatshirt.
Ask the attendant to give your child some warm milk (it pays to pack a bottle or sippy cup in your child carry on also to eliminate spills)
Purchase your child’s mask ahead of time from your expected trip to get them used to wearing their sleep mask & feeling comfortable. Play games like pin the tail on the donkey; guess what item I have removed from the tray etc. to make the mask “fun”. Don’t forget to wear your mask too, monkey see… monkey do.

Larger Parcels

All larger items, including the Dohm White Noise Machines and Bulk Earplugs (100 & 200 pairs), will be freighted at the cost of $15.

Terms & Conditions

Depending on the nature of the Goods ordered, Sleep and Sound will arrange for delivery of the Goods by Australia Post or a courier. Sleep and Sound will use its best endeavours to deliver the Goods to the Customer’s nominated delivery address within the time period specified; however, Sleep and Sound will not be liable to the Customer or anyone else for any losses suffered or incurred due to delay. For deliveries within Australia, the customer should allow for standard Australia Post delivery times. The estimated delivery date depends on where the customer lives, and is calculated from when the customer receives the ‘Order Shipped’ email and not from the time the order was placed. The above information is estimated only and is based on information provided by Australia Post:

Delays

Delays may occur around Christmas, Easter, and public holidays. Remote deliveries are subject to local transport schedules and may encounter extended delays. Please note that there are limitations on all courier networks, and some remote delivery addresses will not be serviced door-to-door. In these cases, the couriers will deliver to a local depot or Australia Post office, and the customer will be contacted to collect from there. Some remote locations such as islands can only be accessed by boat; therefore, normal shipping times do not apply. The delivery dates are estimates only. Sleep and Sound will do all that it can to ensure delivery within the estimated dates, but factors such as public holidays and peak delivery times may not allow this always to be possible. Please note that while Australia Post provides a reliable national service, delivery delays can occur for various reasons. If you are experiencing a longer than usual delay, please first enquire about your missing package through Australia Post. Sleep and Sound Online cannot investigate dispatched missing orders until 10 business days after the customer has received the ‘order shipped’ email, as per Australia Post guidelines. Delivery Details

The Customer must ensure that the Customer enters the correct delivery address as parcels returned to Sleep And Sound as undeliverable may incur a re-dispatch fee and be sent back out as regular mail. Freight charges paid for the original dispatch are not refundable.

Damage or Loss

Any damaged or lost orders are subject to an investigation carried out by the courier service. This investigation can take up to 10 business days. We must allow the delivery company to complete their investigation before taking any further action into the parcel’s whereabouts. Australia Post does not require a signature for delivery unless otherwise specified. Customers not in attendance when an order is delivered may find their parcel left at the residence in a safe spot, i.e., letterbox, or will receive a card with information on the order’s collection. Australia Post does not redeliver items that have been transferred to a local post office for collection. Special instructions can be left to deliver your order during checkout; Sleep And Sound take no responsibility if these instructions are not followed. If the customer leaves specific shipping instructions for a parcel to be left at a property, then the parcel is left at the customer’s own risk. Sleep And Sound accepts no responsibility for damage or loss of parcels that have been left as per the shipping instructions. Subject to Sleep And Sound’s return policy, Sleep And Sound will take all reasonable care to pack all orders appropriately but will not be liable or responsible for any damaged goods or missing orders. Subject to payment, property, and risk in the Goods passes to the Customer upon delivering the Goods to the Customer’s nominated delivery address.
