What Are The Best Noise Blocking Ear Plugs For Me?

Like all body parts, the size of ears varies from person to person and from male to female. It can not be said as a straightforward rule, although, we have found that women’s ear canal sizes are typically smaller than that of men.

These ear plugs are also suitable for men who have smaller ear canals and who may suffer from the pain and discomfort of larger ear plugs. I know, I know, but they are pink, and bright pink at that! You could look at them as the ‘high vis” alternative. Like many of our male customers who wear the Dreamgirls have said “who cares what colour they are if you’re asleep”

We have a lot of women asking us after they have tried their husband’s foam ear plugs from work if it is normal for their ears to hurt after wearing them.

Quite simply, in a word… no! It is not at all normal for someone to experience any type of pain from wearing ear plugs.

Generally, if you are experiencing ear pain, you need to see your GP. Ear pain can be due to infection, or similar, or alternatively, from wearing ear plugs that are too large for your ear canal and or that contain allergens or toxic chemicals (often found in cheaper Asian variants of ear plugs). Mack’s Dreamgirl Soft Foam Earplugs are similar in length to most other Mack’s foam earplugs, however, they are softer, contoured, and slightly smaller in diameter. They have also been designed with a hollow centre for extra comfort.

NOISE REDUCTION RATING – NRR relates to the amount of noise/decibels an ear plug blocks. The highest noise reduction rating currently offered for an ear plug is around 32 decibels.

This means that, if you wear a product, for example with an NRR of 30db, in accordance with its directions for fitting, the noise entering your ears will be reduced by 30 decibels.

Small or Sensitive Ears?

People with smaller ear canals experience this discomfort more often, as “normal” sized earplugs don’t fit as well into their canals. If you have smaller ear canals and/or sensitive ear canals, a smaller diameter earplug like Mack’s Dreamgirl Soft Foam Earplugs lessen this pressure and thus increase the comfort level.

How do I Wear Earplugs Correctly?

Insert earplugs after carefully reading the directions. Be sure to insert the plug while pulling (with the opposite hand) up and back on the outer ear to straighten the ear canal. If you are still unsuccessful with a plug that has now warmed to body temperature, try another “cooler” plug. A plug that is cooler in temperature will retain its compressed shape and rigidity slightly longer, sometimes making it easier to insert. A sign that the earplug is sealing properly is that your own voice will sound more internal and exaggerated.

Why are Some Earplugs Uncomfortable?

Ear sensitivity varies greatly from one person to another, and even from one ear to another, on the same person. Any pre-moulded earplug that works by exerting a bit of pressure back on the ear canal to seal it properly may, over an extended period of time, begin to cause some discomfort to the wearer.

Terms & Conditions

Depending on the nature of the Goods ordered, Sleep and Sound will arrange for delivery of the Goods by Australia Post or a courier. Sleep and Sound will use its best endeavours to deliver the Goods to the Customer’s nominated delivery address within the time period specified; however, Sleep and Sound will not be liable to the Customer or anyone else for any losses suffered or incurred due to delay. For deliveries within Australia, the customer should allow for standard Australia Post delivery times. The estimated delivery date depends on where the customer lives, and is calculated from when the customer receives the ‘Order Shipped’ email and not from the time the order was placed. The above information is estimated only and is based on information provided by Australia Post:

Delays

Delays may occur around Christmas, Easter, and public holidays. Remote deliveries are subject to local transport schedules and may encounter extended delays. Please note that there are limitations on all courier networks, and some remote delivery addresses will not be serviced door-to-door. In these cases, the couriers will deliver to a local depot or Australia Post office, and the customer will be contacted to collect from there. Some remote locations such as islands can only be accessed by boat; therefore, normal shipping times do not apply. The delivery dates are estimates only. Sleep and Sound will do all that it can to ensure delivery within the estimated dates, but factors such as public holidays and peak delivery times may not allow this always to be possible. Please note that while Australia Post provides a reliable national service, delivery delays can occur for various reasons. If you are experiencing a longer than usual delay, please first enquire about your missing package through Australia Post. Sleep and Sound Online cannot investigate dispatched missing orders until 10 business days after the customer has received the ‘order shipped’ email, as per Australia Post guidelines. Delivery Details

The Customer must ensure that the Customer enters the correct delivery address as parcels returned to Sleep And Sound as undeliverable may incur a re-dispatch fee and be sent back out as regular mail. Freight charges paid for the original dispatch are not refundable.

Damage or Loss

Any damaged or lost orders are subject to an investigation carried out by the courier service. This investigation can take up to 10 business days. We must allow the delivery company to complete their investigation before taking any further action into the parcel’s whereabouts. Australia Post does not require a signature for delivery unless otherwise specified. Customers not in attendance when an order is delivered may find their parcel left at the residence in a safe spot, i.e., letterbox, or will receive a card with information on the order’s collection. Australia Post does not redeliver items that have been transferred to a local post office for collection. Special instructions can be left to deliver your order during checkout; Sleep And Sound take no responsibility if these instructions are not followed. If the customer leaves specific shipping instructions for a parcel to be left at a property, then the parcel is left at the customer’s own risk. Sleep And Sound accepts no responsibility for damage or loss of parcels that have been left as per the shipping instructions. Subject to Sleep And Sound’s return policy, Sleep And Sound will take all reasonable care to pack all orders appropriately but will not be liable or responsible for any damaged goods or missing orders. Subject to payment, property, and risk in the Goods passes to the Customer upon delivering the Goods to the Customer’s nominated delivery address. Anyone at the Customer’s nominated delivery address who receives the goods shall be presumed by Sleep And Sound to be authorised to receive the Goods.
