Swimmers ear, as it is so commonly referred to, is an infection in the outer ear caused by your ears becoming waterlogged and water becoming trapped. While this can happen to anyone, it is most common in those who swim frequently or who have had previous ear infections.

Swimmers' ear can be very painful and, if left untreated, can lead to more serious infections. The good news is that there are several things you can do to prevent swimmers' ear or treat it if you do get it.

One of the best ways to prevent ear infections is to use earplugs when swimming! This will help keep water out of your ears and reduce the risk of infection.
