Most snoring happens when you sleep on your back. In that position, the lower jaw and soft tissue of the throat drop back, narrowing the airway and causing the vibration that produces snoring. The Oscimed Anti Snoring Belt addresses this directly — it detects when you roll onto your back and produces a gentle vibration that prompts you to shift to your side, without waking you fully.
This approach is called positional sleep therapy. Studies suggest it is effective for approximately 80% of people with positional snoring or positional obstructive sleep apnoea (POSA).
Best For
- People who snore primarily or exclusively when sleeping on their back
- Positional obstructive sleep apnoea (POSA) — where apnoea events occur mainly in the supine position
- People who have tried mouthguards or nasal dilators without sufficient relief
- Those seeking a non-invasive, drug-free alternative to CPAP for positional apnoea
- Partners of snorers who need a practical solution that doesn't require the snorer to change their entire sleep setup
Not suitable for people with a pacemaker.
How It Works
The device clips onto an adjustable belt worn around the chest or hips. A built-in sensor detects when you roll onto your back and triggers a gentle vibration. The vibration continues briefly until you shift to your side or stomach. The intensity is adjustable — a higher setting is recommended for heavier sleepers or those who sleep very deeply.
The belt is made from breathable fabric and is suitable for people who experience night sweats. It can be worn over pyjamas or underwear.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does positional therapy actually work for snoring?
Research indicates that positional therapy is effective for the majority of people whose snoring is caused or worsened by sleeping on their back. If your snoring occurs in all sleep positions, positional therapy alone may not be sufficient.
What is positional obstructive sleep apnoea (POSA)?
POSA is a form of sleep apnoea where breathing interruptions occur primarily or exclusively when sleeping on the back. When apnoea events are at least twice as frequent in the supine position as in other positions, the condition is classified as positional. The Oscimed belt is appropriate for POSA; for non-positional or severe sleep apnoea, CPAP therapy is more appropriate.
Will the vibration wake me up?
The vibration is designed to prompt a position change without fully waking you. Most users report that they shift position and return to sleep without becoming fully conscious. Heavier sleepers may need a higher intensity setting.
Can I use it if I have a pacemaker?
No — the Oscimed Anti Snoring Belt is not suitable for people with a pacemaker.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the device with a damp cloth — do not submerge or rinse under water. The fabric belt can be hand-washed.
What batteries does it use?
Two AAA 1.5V batteries, included.
Is it better than a mouthguard for snoring?
They work differently. A mandibular advancement device like Somnofit holds the jaw forward to keep the airway open regardless of sleep position. The Oscimed belt works by keeping you off your back. For purely positional snoring, the belt may be sufficient. For snoring in all positions, a mouthguard or combination approach may be more effective.
